My band playing a battle of the bands for chance to open for REO Speedwagon.

For the bob, they want us to play classic cover songs (originals strongly discouraged), but I don't know about if we win if we can play originals opening for REO...

But, it should be cool. There were 750 people at the BOB last year for the chance to open for Styx (we missed the deadline, I'd pee my pants to open for Styx. LOL) But, when I was little I would jump up and down on my bed pretending to be singing and playing guitar on stage to REO's High Infidelity album... way back in 80 and 81. lol I was 3 and 4... lol I guess I've always wanted to play on stage, and it just seemed kinda.. I hate to sound all mystic or anything, but kinda fateful that as things are starting to build momentum for us as a band locally, that we may get to open for the band that was one of my earliest influences as a wanna be guitar player. LOL

Obviously we have to win it, but I have a feeling playing in front of the largest crowd I've ever looked out on (maybe my senior year talent show, but they weren't exactly a concert minded crowd. LOL) will be quite inspiring. lol

I talked to the BFR and she said she's kinda scared to be strummed in front of that many people. LOL

Aren't Styx and REO touring together? They were here at the Clark County Amphitheatre earlier this month. I checked the tour itinerary and the 2 dates for REO i see in OK are with Styx. Maybe this is how it is supposed to be! Any way, do what you do.... and from what I've heard of your playing.... You are gonna' knock 'em dead !! Best of luck and .....Say Hi to Tommy Shaw for me. When I was in the 9th grade , my brother and about five or six of us from school all skipped out of class to go to the last night of Styx'es "Pieces of Eight " tour w/ April Wine as the opening act! It was an amazing concert. I think I still have the tour book at home .....somewhere.

Show how it is done with an EBMM!!!!

Ps. Here is a link to the tour itinerary I was talking about :http://www.livedaily.com/news/15746.html

Yeah.. this is a benefit show of sorts. It's in Garden City Kansas. Styx played it last year in the midst of the Boston/Styx tour.
