Fell In Love With a JP today

I went to guitar center today and fell in love with a petrucci 6 string!! Here is the tag:
Musicman 961 05 21 00 WC Petrucci Trem Piezo Match Saph

What are the differences in the models on the 6 string Jp's? What is the one I played (Musicman 961 05 21 00 WC Petrucci Trem Piezo Match Saph)?

I will be looking for a used one so please pm me if you see one.

(oh today I tried gibson sg, gibson les paul, ernie ball silo, ernie ball axis, prs custom 22) but fell in love with the Petrucci.

they did not have a 7 string, nor have I ever played a 7 string but I have an agile baritone that is tuned for B. One more question you guys that play 7 stringers is it hard to adapt to playing a 7 if you dont use the 7th b string all the time

Basically that means that the JP you played is nearly fully loaded, but it probably didn't have the "JP Shield" inlays. If so, I think they'd be listed. The "trem" is standard, same on all models, but the "piezo" is the acoustic bridge pickup option, the "match" means that the headstock is painted to match the body (not natural wood), and "saph" is Saphire Black, the color name of the guitar.

I'd recommend checking the for sale thread if you want a used one from here: http://www.ernieball.com/forums/musi...rs-sale-6.html

I'd also recommend getting a 6string if most of the stuff you play is only 6 strings. Plus, the 7s are more expensive. But get the 7 if you play a lot of 7 string stuff.

Yeah, I fell in love with JP too...

OHSHI- You mean the guitar! Uh, YEAH! Uh....Me too!

JK. I'd do what the24thfret suggested, only if you're going to really play a lot of 7-string stuff should you end up getting the 7. I still have a 6 and it is way easier to just play material meant for it on, well, IT. Makes sense.

Adjusting is a piece of cake, though. Give it a week and you're good to go!

I did the same today too. I played a fully loaded JP6 with piezo, d-sonic pickup, and JP inlay. It was so a tempting to get it, was $1925. Some day though.

Is the piezo a worthy upgrade? I had both switches down when I was playing so wondering if I even had the piezo going...if not what are your guys thoughts on no piezo (cheaper for me)

piezo is definitely worth it if you are going to gig with it! no need to cart around an acoustic, plus the extra tones you can get with a magnetics and piezo together is amazing!

Depends on your playing style, but for me, I find the piezo is half the reason I bought the guitar in the first place. It's really that good.

Shadyru, put your location in your profile. I am always on the lookout for EBMM guitars in local stores. I know of one on craigslist and one in a used store at the moment.

keep in mind that you are talking about four pieces of wood two pots one switch a trem along with springs two pickups and some wire.....BP

There is also the BFR model 6-string...I don't know how much dough your willing to pay but those guitars are much worth the extra penny,or two.
