    Question about the latest Lukes

I have one of the early steve lukathers with the floyd rose on it. one of the better features is the way in which you attach the whammy bar onto the bridge, you place it in and then you can use an allan key to tighten the bar into a firm place so that it doesn't swing around freely.

I simply want to know if the new lukes, with the floating-but-not-floydrose systems have the same feature.

    G'day.. welcome to the forum

    Long story short, Yes.
You can adjust the trem arm so stays in a specific position and doesn't spin around.
You don't even need to take the trem cavity plate off on the new one

Have a good one. Hope you stick around.
    Scott.

The trems arms can be locked on both yes.
But the Luke and Petrucci have very very different trems.

The petrucci has a custom fully floating tremolo, which at present... is only available on that model. It is routed to allow pitch shifting upward like your floyd-rose luke 1 is.

The current production model Luke has what is essentially a vintage style trem. It is not routed like the above two... however can be set to float above the wood slighty and allows for some pitch shifting. If you have a look at the pics of the site you may get a better idea.

The current Luke actually has slighty different pickups to the old model too.
