I can tell that it is a Silhouette stop-tailpiece in Rolls Burgundy finish, rosewood neck with a natural headstock and a white pearloid pickguard.

Hey, thanks 5S. Just shows you what I know for sure in this world. Plate number is G26586 and I thought it was Burnt Apple. You are absolutely correct. It plays better than sex (from what I can remember). Kudos to you guys.

    Hi all!
I have a 4 string, 2EQ string through body, natural finish, black PG fretless. I'm not too sure on the date of birth (based on the info I've found on the awesome links provided, I'm guessing 1979-1980).

    Serial # B016213

    Thanks!

    Hecubus,

When Ernie Ball, Inc. acquired Music Man in 1984, Music Man Inc. as a company was in disarray and on the verge of bankruptcy. As a result, unfortunately, the serial number records were lost. We have no records of pre- Ernie Ball instruments produced by serial number. We do know that the original Music Man StingRay basses were started in 1976 and the majority of them were made between 1977-79. The range you have is probably pretty close.
