    thanks dan..

another quick question about this one, was this pretty early in the production of EVHs? what was the start date in EVH production? do the last 3 digits 158 tell you that it was the 158th EVH produced?

    thanks for your time.....BRENT

    Brent,

When it comes to serial numbers, we are not that organized. Some of the serial numbers you'd think might be first (such as #80009) didn't even get finished until the next year. As to your guitar, there were at least 184 built before yours and on the 31st of July, there were about 20 EVH's made. July 1991 was the first big month of production, before that they were just trickling in. I think all we did that whole month was build those guitars! So your guitar was probably one of the first 200 production models produced and was definitely one of the first 20 made in the trans blue finish. Hope that helps!

Thanks, Dan! Is there a formula for how the serial numbers are formatted, or is it simply a linear numeric sequence as the instruments are blessed with a neck plate?

No, the serial numbers are selected completely randomly without any rhyme or reason whatsoever - and that's the truth! You could easily see your serial number, which is one of the higher ones at this point, completed right before one that has a serial number like F08000 or something like that. It is rather unscientific. I guess we are more concerned with building the best guitars we know how, and letting the serial numbers fall where they may.

Ritchie, I think you probably have some idea when it was made - weren't you the one waiting for the UPS truck to arrive at Pop's Music Shop? Anyway the date of production is 6/19/06.

    Very good!!

    Thanks Dan!

Great guitar, fingers are numb from playing it for the last 6 hours, but it sounds better than I even thought it would.
