Anyone heard an Engl Raider?

This is a discussion on Anyone heard an Engl Raider? within the Music Man Guitars forums, part of the Gear Talk category; No youtube videos on it because it's pretty new I believe. Has anyone heard it? Amount of gain, etc? Thanks...

I heard one briefly at NAMM and I was pretty impressed by it. I need to order a few more pieces from ENGL, maybe I'll add one of these.

It certainly *looks* like a good amp, but I've never heard anything from it.

    Hi,

hereīs what German "Guitar" magazine wrote about it ( I translate a little bit for you):

Raider is an excellent allround amp for sounds from "american clean" to "british rough" and everything in between. Itīs an amp especially for stage because of its two master volumes and the integrated noisegate. Youīre crazy if you take more than one amp to a gig because Raider does it all.

About the second channel they wrote:
Itīs darker voiced, so you need to turn up the presence knob. But thereīs no metal sound which Raider canīt do. Scooped sounds, downtunings and so on. Also more than enough gain for the solo experience and the midboost is excellent for cutting through sounds.

Maybe a little help for you.

Thanks for that! There was surprisingly little online about this amp as far as reviews and I couldn't find even ONE youtube clip. Needless to say, I got a killer deal on a dent 'n' scratch from Musician's Friend. Hopefully it will work. It is out for delivery as of today. I'll keep everyone posted.

I even brought my Axis into work today so we could crank it down in the basement.

The Raider is definitely on my radar for later this year, seems like a great amp making a big sound without all the hassle.

Maybe you'll be the fist one to put a video in Youtube ???

    Rock on!

That's the plan. I played with it during lunch and was REALLY impressed. It has a ton of gain.

I'll definitely make a youtube video if I end up keeping it (which is very likely).

Haven't tried the Raider, but I play Engl Powerball (I'm endorsing them) and it's exactly the sound I'm after. It sounds amazing!

Well done, you can really get a good impression of what this amp is capable of!

This one's definitely on my radar when my next amp purchase is due by the end of this year!

    Rock on!
