Is anything known about a promised "real" Morse BFR - I mean, not just a rosewood neck, but one with a mahog tone block and a maple top (Y2D with the tone block)? Maybe in new colours? And maybe with all the 4 pickups?

As for the rosewood necks being a BFR - not to take away from the visual beauty of the neck, but c'mon guys - it's not a custom shop guitar compared to the 20-th, BFR AL, BFR Luke or BFR JP. I've tried a rosewood neck silo and an all rosewood axis and they were as great as any Music Man - but the silo was certainly not as exclusive in tone, as the mahog block BFRs are. It's all fine from a marketing and PR-viewpoint, but I begin - as You see - to get a little unnerved, when on this forum a standard model with an all rosewood neck as opposed to maple/rosewood is called a custom shop model.

There are quite a few marketing reasons why e.g. not every Mercedes or Porsche is called a "custom made" car.

Well, I could be wrong, but I gathered from the Guitar Center event that the rosewood neck Morse did have the tone block, and was truly a BFR? I guess we have to wait and see. I wasn't sure if the info was already out to the public or not?

Oh, that would be something quite new to me - I hope I'm wrong, but AFAIK, they have standard bodies.

All the RW neck BFR's had no change to the bodies, i'm 100% sure of that.

BTW, congrats and all the best wishes to You and Your wife - while I don't have any children myself yet (but I will start working on that after the marriage in the end of July), they sure are the best of God's gifts even to us, pure guitar geeks.

A BFR is whatever the Ball Family decides to release whether it's a small run or is available permanently. The tone block doesn't have to be in it but the BFR inlay sure does. I did watch Steve Morse play a Y2D with a tone block in it at the desert bash (soundchecking with Dudley and Sterling), but that model hasn't been released. Beej was standing next to me maybe he can remember more?
