I bought one from Music Center Canada fully loaded for a bit over the 2 mark. I used to (and see used to) play an Ibanez 1570 and now it will soon be up for sale. This guitar will make all of your other guitars go straight to ebay.

I am interested in the JP because people often say the EBMM line is on par with custom shop stuff, and the fact that I can add the piezo option in the JP.

As I have stated, I have never tried one myself. However, I played an Axis and it feels right and sounds awesome too.

I really hope that I could find one and try out myself before I pull the trigger on one
Well, I wouldn't say that the JP6 is the top of the line JP. I might say that the Ball Family Reserve JP6 is the top of the line, however. Still, both are great guitars.

Some of us might beg to differ. I think it's the BFR JP7. But I gotta have that low B

I agree, I think it is always best to play a guitar before you buy it.

To be honest, though, I didn't really play a JP6 before I bought mine. I was a longtime Ibanez player, and my friend had a JP6 in 2002. But he wasn't much of a player and didn't have it set up well at all, not to mention he didn't let me play it much, so I don't count that as any real experience. So I basically ordered a JP6 brand new without ever really having played one... And I sold my Ibanez immediately.

Again, I think you should play one before you buy one. Still, though, I think it will win you over in either case.

Hey there from the other side of the Great White!

I've been through the Ibanez kick and came out on the other side with my JP. I had an Ibanez JS100, pined a lot for a JS1000 or higher, but eventually discovered EBMM and ordered one custom from the factory.

I can tell you; I've played JS1000 guitars and I found the neck didn't feel as natural or comfy in my hands. I would think that Long & McQuade would stock at least one of the JP guitars, but if they don't you can always bug them enough to bring one in to try out. I hear they have a really good trade-in program.

 Vancouver L&M does not have a JP6 in stock, what a shame.
I often heard people from the web saying that music stores will rip you off if you trade in your instrument.
I think I have to put in quite a lot of cash if I trade in with them

Think of this, if you order new JP6 now you have 3-4 months time to sell those guitars, this way you might more money out of them. I did this with my tele and 5-string bass...

This is true...and L&M don't require that you pay off ALL of the guitar up front.
All it would take is to ask the rep "if I traded in such and such toward such and such" you'd get a quote on what they would pay you. It's a starting point anyway. I know the L&M here is really good about trading instruments in, they pay a fair price, but generally lower than the market would justify.

The JP is also a little small (about 2 inches vertically smaller than my 59' Gibson) so if you're above 6 feet tall or so it might feel a little uncomfortable. I can't really say that with any certainty since I'm only 5 '8.

I'm over 6 feet and the guitar is fine. People do comment that it looks like a small guitar though. Makes me look way bigger on stage hahahahahaha.

Comparing a JP6 to a JS1000 is like comparing apples to oranges. They're different instruments designed for different guitarists who have different preferences.

You'd most certainly have to play them to know which you prefer.
