Red face Music Man BFR Petrucci 7 string

I'm sorry if this is inappropriate, I wrote a message directly on the Ernie Ball page, but haven't got an answer. This was a couple of weeks ago.

Basically this goes out to anyone who has an idea or a clue on how to handle a situation like this.

I have spent quite a while looking to buy a Music man BFR Petrucci 7 string guitar preferrably with the Emerald Burst finish. Since I am from Europe I started out asking the distributor in my own country, and got no help there.
They were hard to get ahold of, and of little help.

Next I went on a hunt in Europe, and looking around mostly from distributors and dealers in the UK and Germany, where more international dealing occurs than in most European countries. Also other countries have been hard to communicate with because of non-english webpages and lacking international support.

I still didn't find the guitar I was looking for. Now I might have missed something, I'm not very experienced when it comes to scanning the internet for different shops and such, but I've done my best and I've spent alot of money on international phonecalls and such, but to no avail.

I then turned my attention to american dealers, and found that there were indeed those who has this guitar, either on order and maybe in stock. When talking to these people, over e-mails and on the phone I learned that:

    1. This particular finish has been discontinued.
    2. Due to agreements with the Music Man company they cannot ship the guitar in question outside of the United States.

Looking for a way around this, since I unfortunately don't know anyone in the US to help me buy this guitar, I turned to looking for flight tickets, seeing how much it would cost me to fly over the ocean and buy the guitar in person. Flying to the US would cost me about $1500 in each direction, landing on a hefty $3000 dollar tag for travel in and out of the country only. Meaning I would have to pay more for my flight tickets than for the guitar in question.

Also as I've been informed I cannot put down a deposition on the guitar to make sure it's still there when I would get to the US, which means I would have to buy plane tickets the same day I was flying to increase my chances of getting the guitar. This would increase my costs unfortunately.

After all this I looked to buy a used guitar, but have yet to find a used 7 string Petrucci Emerald Burst on any auction or sales site.

So I'm looking for help, some ideas on how I might solve this, if there's anyone who knows of a european dealer with this particular guitar either coming in, or in stock. Or any other ways of acquiring this guitar, if you know anyone who's willing to sell one used to me.

I'm having problems finding 7 stringed BFR's of any kind that would go to Europe, so even if I would settle with another finish, I wouldn't know where to start looking for it.

Thanks in advance for any help from anyone, I hope this is not inappropriate or against the rules. And I hope you've read all the way down here from the top, and can shed some light on my situation.

    Sincerely,

    Erik.

    Hi Erik,

The customer service folks are often a good resource to help you find dealers with stock. I'd try dropping them an email or phone call- perhaps they can find an int'l dealer with a 7 string BFR.

As an aside ... they do come up for sale used from time to time. I'd keep an eye on the for sale thread.

Good luck in the hunt! When you finally get one ... make sure you post the pictures to prove it

Erik: It depends on your location (postal code) and the particular item (weight, size, value etc.) For a typical Music Man guitar and to most Swedish locations, it would typically be in the 50-60 EUR region incl. insurance and quick delivery.

Please just email us with your full shipping address or call +49 89 54784657, we will then gladly provide an exact quote and discuss the details of your order.
