I've been lucky to meet up with Al a few times- at a soundcheck, after gigs, at the UK Knucklehead bash, I even had a quick chat with him whilst in a breakfast queue when he was playing in the Rhythm Kings and staying at the same hotel in Liverpool (I was cool about it and spoke to him without drawing attention to him - infact we had a great chat and I couldn't get a word in edgeways!)
The close up of his Fender and settings was taken at the soundcheck in Cardiff when his crew allowed me on stage.

I've seen him in small and medium sized venues and I would,t say that he plays overly loud - but he doesn't miss a note.
He's got big hands for a small bloke !!
Actually, what Spud means, is that followed Al around the country and would stand at the front of the stage, lifting up his shirt to reveal the life-size tattoo of Al that he's had done.

Up until the restraining order came through, this was how he'd spend his free time.

Honestly, at the UK bash, Al hid in the toilets and wouldn't come out until we'd agreed to sit on Spud!!

    Hee Hee!

My good "guitar building" mate pulls my leg in a similar way!!

He keeps asking if the restraining order has been lifted yet.

S'funny - when I was at the Cardiff soundcheck I was talking to a young lady - turned out to be Albert's daughter.

A few weeks before the Cardiff gig I'd spoken to Albert and his keyboard player Ellio about the sad loss of one of the UK's finest guitarists - a Cardiffian called Mickey Gee. Albert knew Micky well - Micky had played on the Carl Perkins TV tribute. Ellio knew him from working with Shakin' Stevens.
Anyway at the Cardiff gig I gave them a DVD of a TV show called "Still Rockin'" on which Welsh musicians like Pino, Dave Edmunds, Andy Fairweather low and of course Micky played. My brother was the set designer and his wife was the production manager and I had permission to make a copy

Ellio and Albert were "knocked out" by the gesture - Albert gave me a set of strings as a thanks.

So I've spoken to him about good times and bad. For a good read get his Biography - a bit pricey but a cracking read!!

reading that stuff gives me chills. Fairweather low, edmunds, Pino P. legends. I love rock and roll. I could read and listen to this stuff forever.
