I'm part of the EBMM Family now :) though I had an accident...

Hi everyone

I got my EBMM JPM6 last night!!! I totally love the guitar and its quality everywhere approach. The piezo sounds killer on an acoustic guitar amp

and the sustain is godly as well.

Sadly, my first pics are of a small mishap that JUST happened to me

while cleaning the guitar, go figure...

I was pulling out the trem bar (which by the way I love the way it locks!) and it hit the chrome bridge, pulling a small chrome flake from it. I know... I don't know whether to laugh or cry right now

, it's not the end of the world but it totally sucks to have this happen on the second day of having your dream guitar. I attached some -crappy- pictures which show what happened.

Has anyone here suffered this problem? Is there some glue I can use to fix it? And finally, does Music Man sell replacement parts (if it comes to that

)?

Sorry about the mishap. Definitely sucks. Is the guitar new? Might be worth getting in touch with customer service. They might be able to help you out.

Yeah. I had the same thing. Owned my Petrucci about a week, and then I turn it over, and there's a small dent in the side. I nearly had a heart attack, it truly does suck.

The guitar isn't new but it's mint and I got it really cheap ($1400 all the way to Costa Rica!) fully loaded and looking gorgeous. The guy I bought from ebay was awesome to top it off.

I agree that if it was the finish I'd be feeling even worse. Still, I'd love to fix it or change it properly.

It's honestly difficult to see what you are talking about in those pics. Haha no you won't be able to glue chrome back on, but if you contact your dealer and/or EBMM customer service they should be able to offer some advice.

It's all mojo man. Guitars are for playing, don't stress it

You definitely should contact EBMM customer service.

It may be possible to purchase a replacement bridge part. Check it out.

I've been at a parts manufacturer 2 years agon, buying a bridge for a mid 60s SG with the wrong neck angel. I had to shave the bridge therefor. They said they can redo the chrome for a few bucks. Maybe there's no need to replace the whole bridge.

man i know what that feels...i got a small paint chip on my mystic dream jp6 and i've been feeling down about...i don't know if i should have the guitar repainted or just keep it that way...i'm extra careful now everytime i play it...

I just called a place where they chrome metal and redoing the piece should be like $30 or so. I gotta check the quality of their work of course, but it's a much better picture now.

On a related topic... is there a "trick" to pull the whammy bar out? Once locked inside the trem it's very hard to pull. That's why the ding happened in the first place.

I'd say just live with it. It will be the first of many dings in the life of the guitar.

Yeah - the flipside is dings, scratches, dents, buckle rash, peeling or worn paint, rust etc. all add character and the illusive mojo to your axe. One of my personal faves is the ciggy burn on the headstock, now that's a touch of class there..

OK just kidding a bit. But the truth is, these little things make your axe unique, however they also harm the resale value. It is not so good if you were planning on reselling it.

maybe we should all look at Steve Morses #1 more often to understand what guitar playing is all about... just a thought.

the only trick ive found with tacking the trem out is make sure u pull it straight vertically out. if u put any pressure on the side of the bar u will have real difficulty and im guessing this is what tore some chrome of as u yanked it out and away.

i put a 4 inch scratch through the paint the day after i got my axis. on the back of the guitar. so i feel your pain. but even more so. but i got over it as i realised im never gonna ever sell this guitar.

Final update

An uncle who's an artisan in woodcrafts was able to glue the small piece of chrome to the bridge using a special epoxy. The ding is almost invisible now

I'm happy once more!!

BTW, I LOVE my EBMM!
