Thumbs up Things do get better

Like some other folks around here, it's been a disastrous year for me - illness in the family, gigs dried up, 5 months of social security still lost in the infamous Gallic bureaucracy. But no bad spell lasts for ever. When the going gets tough, the tough grit their teeth and try to work their way through it.

Thanks to some good contacts, I've just landed a job in the last week, setting up guitars for one of the big music stores here in Paris (Total Music/Playback, the two companies are merging). I'll unpack 'em as they come in, make sure everything works, re-tune and tweak as necessary and send them off to wherever they're going be it store or customer. There'll be a few set ups and what not for customers too. I'm not expecting to see any balls though - the last EBMM guitar I saw in Total Music was the Sub1 that believe knucklehead François picked up, and that's a while ago now.

So tomorrow is my first day in a job in France where I'm not being hired for my English. It'll all be in French, which will be a bit stressful! (What's the spanner or wrench in French, and how do I say 'neck relief'??)

But the moral of the story, no matter how crappy life gets, something will always come up if you get out there and give it a chance to find you. I know it's easier said than done (with my history of depression, I do know, believe me) but like BP said, you have to get out there, somewhere, doing something. The good stuff won't ring your phone on it's own.

Hang in there y'all, nothing lasts forever, even the bad times.

    K.

May it be the stepping to stone to bigger experiences and better monies, but a great experience in of itself too!

    Hello Kev

You are right : the last EBMM guitar of Total Music was bought by me ... and it was really a great deal . But I believe there are still some basses.
I am very happy for you that you find a music-related job. Besides, I am a regular customer of Total Music (I work in Saint Mandé, Line 1 of the Metro, and Total Music is also on the Line 1 ...). Now, I have a new reason to go shopping in a music store
If you want, one day, we can go drink something ...
I hope to see you soon !

Good luck with your new job

Total guitar is a place I also vist very often, so hope I can catch you there

as for the technical stuff like (Spanner: Clé, Wrench Clé Allen, Neck relief : Courbure de manche) I'm not 100% english fluent but I might be able to help you if you need
