    Andy James

Have any of you guys seen this kid play, I mean he is just phenominal. I do like the John 5 thing and buy a dvd of a technique or music I am not into big. So I bought a metal DVD off licklibrary which is a great UK guitar site with some tremendous players and this guy blew me away so much I bought 3 more of his DVDs.

He plays a 7 and 6 string Petrucci and also an Axis. If you never saw him or want to take your metal or just your chops period to another level check this guy out he is really amazing, and his tapping is just off the chart.

To the guys who are from the UK how is this guy percieved over there. Is he well known? Some guys were asking for a dead out Metal EBMM well this guy would be my candidate to design a model. As I went to listening to very little metal to watching him everyday and really digging his playing.

The worst thing you can do is to pigeonhole yourself into one style, I learned that a longtime ago. So checkout country, rock, blues, metal, classical, jazz and you will be astonished at how many amazing players there are in different styles and then you can throw these techniques into your own playing.

No he is not well known over here, well apart from those who see the Lick Library stuff and maybe if he does a song/article in a magazine every now n then.

He hangs around here also sometimes, I believe he was trying to sell his Axis in here at some point. Had swapped the pups to something else though if I remember.

Wow this guy is not signed or recording. I figured he had to be in a metal band and pretty popular. I try to stay up to date on current players but I dont know a lot of the young metal guys. This kid is a tremendous player with some serious chops. In fact over in the UK you guys got a handful of amazing players that a lot of people here would flip for if they knew more about them, like Guthrie Govan that does his own thing and was playing with Asia for a few years, Dave Kilminster who plays with Keith Emerson and Roger Waters, Jamie Humphries and Mike Casswell.

In fact I got turned on to all these guys from Licklibrary which I first stumbled on in 03,and I have to tip my hat as they all are tremendous players. I would of sworn Andy James was a known player there like on a shred label or something. What ever the case may be I think the guy is some player that will be heard from.

yeah he plays in sacred mother tongue. exellent album. im not into that style of music its a bit heavier than i like. but the guitar playing on is fantastic . the whole band are very good. he plays esp guitars when playing live (i think hes endorsed by them). and in some of his instructional videos. but a lot of the videos he puts on youtube. have his petruccis on there. absolute fantastic player. i came across him via lick library also . i have a lot of there dvds and im a regular on there forums. colinboy posts a bit on there to.
im half way through his steve vai quick licks dvd. which there is a video of him doing the performance on on youtube. its very very difficult. but theres some very useable licks in. oh he does lessons aswell via skype if ur intrested . heres the link lol [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xW55bPZ2zKU"]YouTube- Andy James Online Guitar Lessons Ad (info in description)[/ame]

One of my top 3 favourite guitarists. That's saying a lot, too. I've got his SMT CD, In the Wake of Chaos and Kaos 7. The man is unparalleled in his all-out fretboard pyrotechnics!

OK That sounds a bit more like it.lol The first responce put up saying he came in here looking to sell his ax and that he hangs around a bit had me puzzled as if the kid was no big deal or you see chops like that everyday.lol

As I stated I am not into metal so I wanted to check out some metal playing as well as a technical approach and I was floored by his playing. So much I got 3 more of his DVDs and he is playing EBMM guitars on all of them. Now I have to get a CD of Sacred Mother Tongue.

Adamr I have to agree 100% about the recent talent pool you guys have got going on there with Guthrie Govan having to be one of the top players period. The great thing is I stumbled upon Licklibrary in 03 so I have Elite membership and get to use the whole site for free and it is by far my favorite guitar site. In fact when I joined Stuart Bull had hair.lol

They are still people and so are we....

Stuart Bull, I dunno how he still has a job at Lick Library. He makes the worst videos of them all.

he owns the company dougie. lol. he was the original instructor. if you remember you used to be able to get the "total accuracy" dvd's and that was him. he then built up lick library from that.

as a player i dont particularly like his stuff, and his dvds are my least favourite but they are still good. and hes still a good teacher.

and i watched the live webcast he did on the 15th and he was really really good. he did about a 5 minute improv solo at the start and he can really play.

straycat you should get on the forums. we could do with more people , the forum is pretty bad to be honest.
