    Silhouette bridge

    Hi,

what are those two screws marked with red used for?

My strings are too close to the neck and I want to lift them up a bit.
Can I use those screws or can it be done only with the little ones marked with green?

    Tnx

Try adjusting the truss rod first. I wouldn't mess with the saddle screws (green). You can mess up your string radius adjusting those.

You can adjust overall height with the trem post screws (red) but should be able to make enough of a change via the truss rod.

If I'm correct the red screws are tying the bridge to the body, it's the pivot point for the bridge/trem.

Fred's right adjust the truss rod or the saddle height.

Hello and welcome,Do yourself a favour, take it to a qualified repairer, you'll only end up naffing the pivot screws, then it won't stay in tune.you could also damage the trem.

The green dots on the photo are the saddle screws. I know where Fred's coming from here.

The saddle radius should mimic the radius of the fretboard.
A way to set up saddles is to make up a cardboard template showing the radius of the fretboard, and then use that to get an initial set up of the saddles. Or if ya got money to burn Dan Erlewine sells metal ones

Let me try to paraphrase so I can see if I fully understand... The saddle heights should be in an arc that mirrors the arc of the fretboard.

You can also measure each string from the bottom of the string to the top of the fret at the 12th fret and make sure each string is the same height. I use the Stewart-Mac gauges but measuring works just as well.

You can also measure each string from the bottom of the string to the top of the fret at the 12th fret and make sure each string is the same height.
That's been my method forever. Works fine.
