Holy Crap! What an amazing top you got. A maple neck just tops off the perfect guitar.

Well, it is a beautiful guitar, that is for sure. I had never touched one before and just ordered this thing blind (and with your suggestions, thanks!).

First impressions: It is very well balanced and a delight to hold. I know what people meant when they talked about the resonance; you can feel it thru the body. It sounds great not even plugged in! The neck is super slippery and its taking me a bit to get used to just how fast it really is (maybe I'll get around to cleaning my other guitars!). The neck is gorgeous but I was expecting some birdseye markings of which I don't seem to have much of; still beautiful, though.

I am having issues with fret buzz on the 6th and 5th strings. It's quite annoying and will happen on the 6th string at every fret unless I use the lightest attack; not fun. I was hoping acclimatization would help, but it's still going on and I'm going to have to fix it, pronto.

The overall quality of the guitar seems worth the price. I really questioned whether it would be worth it to spend this amount of cash on a brand new guitar versus something used, but so far no regrets!

    Thanks again for your advice,

    Rob

    Congrats!

On the buzzing ... sounds like you need a bit more relief in the neck. The truss rod is exposed at the heel of the neck. You could give it a small turn counterclockwise and that should do it. (There are lots of threads here about how to use the truss rod.)

Congrats and welcome to club 25th!

Do as Beej said with the trussrod and you,ll get rid of the fretbuzz.

Exactly. Reason why everyone should get a 25th while they are available.

I emailed the guy that did an apparent initial setup before they shipped it to me.

He suggested (like beej) to give it a little turn to the left.

    I'll see how that goes.

    Thanks,

    Rob

If I were choosing between the two, I'd choose a 25th for sure. I think the 2 & 4 position on the SS are lacking, whereas on the 25th the split coils have more possibilities and the "openness" comes through in those positions.
