    Pickup height/NGD

Got a new Axis SS yesterday at GC. Gonna slap some new strings on it today and adjust the pickup height, was wondering where other folks set their bridge pickup on the Axis?
I know its personal preference, use your ear-I usually balance them volume-wise with high-E side closer/eighth of inch fretted at the 22nd fret. It came set up flat (top/bottom same distance from strings), so sounded a bit weak on the treble. I presume you use a washer(s) to shim the base...

Here's a couple of NGD pix

I knew that was coming! Ya think the Music Man guys named it the Super Sport to create that
acronym for the guitar since they designed it for Ed and he left them hanging for Peavey?

So you're saying the EVH pups were real close to the strings? I'm really new to this post-1984 VH stuff/Music Man guitars so forgive my ignorance....Didn't even like this style when Ed came out with it, but I don't buy guitars for their looks, just play-ability and tone. Tho that maple top/birdseye neck is pretty fetching.

    Thumbs up Amazing ASS!

That ASS looks insane, congrats! I usually leave the pickup height stock and just adjust the action (I really prefer low action).

Thanks, like the action low too-with this guitar it practically plays itself.

Slav, you were right on about that stock height. After shimming up the treble side about 1/8" while changing strings, the sound went all to s---! Popped out the shim and wow-back in tone heaven. Guess those MM guys got it right, so don't f with it. And dude, you've got a lot of Balls, where do find time to play 'em all?

That's great news bro! I had a good feeling that they would sound best at their stock position.

I play at least 2 to 3 of them per week. They usually need a slight truss rod adjustment and a neck/board wonder wipe treatment(especially during the cold and dry winter months) but they all get played. Lately I've been playing my HH AL a little bit more than the others. You really need to check them out.

    All the best,

Like having your own private guitar store, eh? Kind of guilty of it myself with 3-4 guitars (out of 8) that get played regularly. Haven't played out for years, but I play way more now than when I was actively gigging....weird. I feel a whole new wave of GAS coming on here. Have to grab some wonder wipe next time in GC, thanks for the tip. Gotta start listening to Lukather again too, he was awesome in toto.

Thanks to Jamie Humphries for turning me on to these MM guitars. His LL DVDs are the best in the lot.

Thanks, GC in Phoenix, AZ. Sick price for a sick guitar. Got alot of MMs there but don't sell too many. Too many folks buying overpriced VOS LPs.
