I'd say black sparkle if it's an original finish. If not, then blue dawn or any other original finish. I watched a blue dawn luke sit for a long time (nick pittman's) for sale here at a great price for an 07 LE. I just couldn't convince myself to go with it. Maybe I should have gone and looked at the actual guitar instead of just the pictures.

Whatever way you go, you have to get what YOU want as we all have our own preferences. If I were picking an ideal Luke, it would be a koa body with a maple neck and with the fingerboard replaced with a maple one and a natty headstock.

Between Blue Dawn and Black Sparkle, I voted for Blue Dawn. I've seen a couple of BFR Lukes in person and they are really nice. So, if you didn't break the bank on a BFR, that would be my second vote

try both if possible. its amazing how 2 of the same guitar can sound and feel a bit different.

sound and feel always seem to win out over looks a little down the line after ownership

imo...and i own some pretty great Lukes

I don't like the idea of refinishing, besides a non-Ball black sparkle just won't be the same. You'd know it and you might just hate yourself for removing a blue dawn finish.

I wouldn't remove the Blue Dawn finish. It would be a Luke Blue if I refinished.

I vote Blue Dawn. This is really because Blue is one of the colors I don't have yet and Blue Dawn is a really cool sparkly blue bursty finish.
