Great shot!
That's exactly how I remember Mike when I recall all the Toto shows I've seen: totally into his playing and groovin' away like there's no tomorrow!
I feel so sorry for him, his family and friends...

That IS a great shot of Mikey with his SR5 - like great for a poster! I'm a huge fan of Toto - and Jeff and Mike. I've learned most of the bass lines on all the Toto records going back to the days of David Hungate on bass. Mike has done a great job since Hungate left the band. He is a solid and groovey cat. He's done quite a bit of session work outside of Toto too. Life is a drag sometimes. I heard this ALS news from a friend at NAMM this year who actually knows Mike and his family and I freaked. We all heard about some mysterious shoulder problem a couple years ago - then Lee Sklar joined Toto, so we knew it was something more serious, but no real news until now. BTW, Mike's son Sam plays bass and is playing tonight at the House of Blues Hollywood - I'm goin' - gotta go see and support the next Porcaro on bass! His band is called Thunder City Shout.

Yep, read some BS about 'fans' discussing why Bobby isn't there etc etc. Useless and disrespectful.

this is sad and hurting attitude but there are always people to criticize.
that's the way Toto is showing respect to their members. By playing live. I think what they are doing is showing a lot of respect to Mike and his family.
When Jeff passed away the decided to tour and pay him a tribute every night

Thanks Dcareaga. I missed that. Me bad.
Ok, mods please delete this if it's not the right place.
TOTO have given me so much pleasure over the years. The thought of more troubled times for the Pocaro's just doesn't seem fair.
I am guessing that the reason for the tour is to let the TOTO fanbase show their love, and to help raise funds for Mikes treatment. Since the tour is unlikely to come to the UK, I can't help with the latter, and I really want to...I feel I owe him.
I'm going to open my paypal account for any knucklehead who wants to help a little. I'll start with my donation. I don't to make a big thing of this - giving should be for the right reasons. If it's okay I'll leave it open for a week, and at the end of the week post a total and a thanks to those who gave. Anonymity will be respected if desired.
I hope this is okay with you BP. I am running a half marathon for a friend who has ALS (motor neurone disease as it's known in the UK), and this has really hit home.
My email/paypal address is nettleships@F2S.com. Please send any donation as a gift so you pay the charges.
I have an acquaintance who is close to the band who I hope can find out how I can get the funds to MP. And if I'm totally on the wrong track, the money will got to an ALS charity in the USA.
Many thanks - and whatever, lets keep sending our prayers and thoughts for Mike.
Richard

We have a friend in our group with ALS who developed it in his 20s (very unusual for someone so young). Devastating is a massive understatement.
Very sad to hear this, and I hope the gigs raise a ton of money.

Might be time for me to reread Tuesdays with Morrie. I've never met Mike, but we all love Luke and i had the biggest crush back in jr high school on mike and jeffs sister joleen. An absolute beauty. And their dad joe was a true legend at the musicians institute back when i attended in the early 80's. He was an instructor there.
Again, good luck and good memories on this tour. I hope and think lots of good will come out of this
