I took a three year break from ebay and have now been back on for the last two. I was shocked to see all the new rules that absolutely are in the buyers favor to a point that I think it is unfair.
I have never been a seller and always a buyer and if you do enough transactions sooner or later you will run into an idiot. First as long as you use pay pal you have nothing to fear as they have you covered all the way.
As members have stated stay in constant contact and not through private emails. When there is a problem make sure all your emails are through pay pal so a rep can read the responses. I have a set of questions I run down no matter if the item is listed dead mint-Are there any dents, dings, scratches, cracks in the neck joint, how is the shape of the frets,is the guitar all original or has there been any mods/ that covers all the bases and so many times on an item listed mint I will get an answer like there is a slight stress crack but it does not affect playability. Well that is not mint in my book. But you just want to know exactly what you are getting.
If it goes a few more days open a dispute which usually lights a fire under there as# and then you can escalate it to a claim. I have sent back 2 guitars over the years and pay pal was really on the ball both times. The first time I asked the pay pal rep is there some small writing saying I will get my refund in 18 months and I was assured the minute the claim was closed pay pal would refund me and deal with the seller themselves in collecting there money which it never came down to.
I also am not affected by low sales by a seller as this is where you will often find the best deals compared to someone who has a couple of hundred and deals with music gear as they are going to ask for top dollar.Right now I know it is annoying and this happens once in a bluemoon, but it will all work out alright.
