Browndog I agree. I think he would find a black Axis right up his ally. In fact I just saw a video clip someone posted of Scott Ian from Anthrax playing a black Wolfgang. First and last time I heard that band -not my cup of tea.

kleinmeiner go check out an Axis in black, I have a feeling you will be leaving the store with it.

it has nothing to do with looks. it opens up the sound a treat, makes it respond faster. it has it's own tone but under a thick crunch and voiced pickups, it's not as obvious as turning a knob on the amp. if you can't hear it, u don't need it, but i for one, can hear it. but then again, we've had ppl here who didn't hear the difference between maple/ebony and rosewood before.

straycat: the axis has the chunkiest neck of the 3 i suggested. from what i hear, the soloist has a flat thin profile. i think we should simply wait till he's had the time to play them.

After searching and playing and testing and ...and... I finally bought a Luke!
What a wonderful guitar! I play all the heavy s**t I love even with the EMG 85 and a lot of different things with the combinations of the other pickups. Today I'm going to swap the 85 with an 81 as dwells wisely suggested to be sure that I can take all of the aggressiveness this beauty can offer me

Thank you all for your help!

P.S.: I'm planning to sell my 2 Gibsons (one Les Paul and one SG Junior) and buy a JP6, too

    Thumbs up

Congrats, that's a great choice! I'm planning on doing the 85 to 81 swap on my Luke too. Maybe wait a bit and get a JPX, after you sell your other guitars.

Pics of the Luke are mandatory!

OK, as soon as I get my guitar with the emg 81 on it from my guitar tech, I'll post some pics (although it's the very, very common blue Luke).
    It's a promise!
