As Andy has alluded to.... --how about a real reverb (you know the ones with a reverb pan and some tubz) then the verb doesn't have to have (L)imitation....

    Ahem! Real Reverb

The Nova Reverb is cool for a digital Reverb.

There's also the Holy Grail Plus, which has more options than the regular Holy Grail.

I have never used a reverb pedal - but I have heard nothing but great comments on the Hardwire series reverb

the Dr. Scientist Reverberator is the best ANALOG reverb I have heard in a pedal. It's amazing. For digital, probably the TC.

I was reading an old copy of GP yesterday and read this article. I don't have any experience with either one of these and don't know if you're looking for a spring sound in a stompbox, but anyhow:
Boss FRV-1 ?63 Fender Reverb vs. Lee Jackson Mr. Springgy, Barry Cleveland
    2009 AL PBB Hardtail, MM90s & Piezo

great little article, love the beginning where the real tube verb is talked about. no doubt about it really.

having used boss pedals it's no surprise to me that the FRV-1 is pretty good.

Clearly I need to explore the TimeFactor more for this as it would make my Nova Reverb obsolete.

There is a Verbfactor in the works from Eventide but there is no official release on when this may be available.

    This interests me.

Would reverb in a pedal be preferred to an amps reverb?

Assuming of course that certain amp companies produce better reverb.

I run a Lexicon Alex on top of my amp, in the loop, and control it with a TRS stomp box. I've never been a big fan of reverb, but the few times I use it during a gig this unit has done well for me. My opinion is that natural reverb is the best, followed by pedals/rack. I have yet to hear a spring reverb that sounds fantastic - maybe the ones I have heard just haven't been used the right way, and I'm so used to the tweaking ability of the pedals/rack it puts me off to the spring.

LOL - Yeah it takes a little time to get it going.

In answer to the live scenario - I am using it going XLR out stereo to the FOH and pumping myself through my monitor so I can hear myself of course. I have a TC Nova System in the FX Loop of the Eleven Rack for additional effects, stereo delays, expression pedal, etc... It sounds great. I recently also purchased a Morpheus DropTune and although I have some YouTube videos of the Eleven Rack and showing off some of my user presets (the presets it ships with I've had to modify quite a bit which is not abnormal...) I also have a demo of the Morpheus running into the Eleven Rack and recorded direct and not the usual LAZY route I take of using the mic on the video camera LOL

Anyway check it out - oh and I am playing my JP6 DDII guitar which I L-O-V-E...

Heres one NOT running direct with some more patches I came up with.
