It's funny, I don't find the Axis uncomfortable to play at all. I guess is is all in how you rest your arm on the guitar...

I think it depends mainly if you learned to play with an electric guitar or with an acoustic guitar. If your fist guitar was a Strat, you need a contoured body.
I learned with an old acoustic (from my mother) thus I don't need a contoured body.

Wow, Dizz, very tame answer. I was expecting something foul, funny, and disgusting.

I know what you are talking about, but this wouls happen on certain guitars like a Tele if you are sitting on a floor and hunching a bit. I cant or never experienced it standing.

    I know that excact feeling..
The binding on my Les Paul Custom has actually been worn down a little bit right where my forearm hits the body.
Must be cause I've got waaay beefy forearms... Just kidding

For me it's more a problem when standing up, might be because I wear my guitars kinda low.

There's a great cream available for this issue faced by certain types of people.

Applied 30mins before playing it's supposed to relieve the problem totally.

They also do their own wristbands : HTFU

Actually, my first guitar was a strat and I have no problem with the Axis. I do have to say the contour on the AL is nice... but even then my playing style is such that it doesn't matter.

I'm going to take the advice of some of our forum members here, pick up some sweat bands from Sportchek today. We'll see how it works out.
I can tell you this, with the sweat band, I can play my ES-175 much more comfortably.
