I recently played a silhouette and a 25th anniversary through one of these. the clean was fantastic and when you switch to the 1/4 watt the thing is so easy to drive with the volume control at manageable levels. Plus I believe the head is only $200-250

    Cool Tube Amp

    Check out a Twister Amp.
All made in the USA, All Tube, Great clean tone and Overdrive too.
Cost is VERY LOW for a USA Tube amp.
Check out their web site for more info.
I stay away from import tube amps.
They break down often as they are not very well made.
    Good luck.

the blackstar ht-5 is a great practice amp.. definitely sounds better with H guitars

overdrive channel is a bit thin with single coils

Not wishing to offend any "terror" owners, I have tried one through a 1 x 12 and a 4 x 12. The gain is more than enough for what I need, but the clean characteristics leave a lot to be desired.

I've even tried the HT5 "live" and of course it needed miking up in a pub venue.

For a cheap amp this side of the pond, the Vox valvetronix are great for the money.
My son had a 30 watt then traded up for a 50 watt.

Mehehe ;] I did it! Beautiful and extremly hot JP6 redburst now hanges on my wall ;] And it sounds amazing throught tiny terror! It's quite versatile especially in middle switch position - it has good clean strat tone, but definitly more ballsy. Neck gives me big, fat, almost "soaking wet" soloing tone, and bridge makes me wanna play heavier stuff It's specific but definitly very good combination - terror gives petrucci a bit more vintage taste, but pickups makes sound remain in modern territory For me, perfect combination for rock & progressive, which I play Awww, I am a happy man!

The Mesa Transatlantic is a great amp! I've had one for about 6 weeks now and I really like it.
My main rig is a Lone Star classic through a 2x12 cab. I bought the TA to take along as a backup since it's so portable. Great little amp with a HUGE sound!
