EBMM JP6 Tremolo Bridge Angle Adjustment

Hello EB gurus,

I just bought a new EBMM JP6 Mystic Dream on ebay. When it was shipped to me, the strings were not tuned and limp and the floating bridge tilted almost completely backwards into the bridge cutout.

I tuned the strings one by one and got it nicely tuned in about 2-3 iterations. What I noticed however is that the tremolo bridge angle was now more than 1mm tilted upwards toward the fretboard.

I am not sure if this is usually the case for new guitars and needs spring tension tweaking or if the strings on the guitar are not what they are supposed to be - 10p-13p-17p-26w-36w-46w (RPS Slinkys #2240).

Either way what am I supposed to do to get the bridge level with the body ?

Note: I feel that the string #1 is a tad bit hard for my liking and would prefer the .009s. Is it okay for me to restring the guitar or is it going to screw up the set up (I think its already screwed up anyway) !!

Any help/advise is greatly appreciated.

If you change string gauges, you'll need to adjust the trem angle a little.
Its not hard to do at all, take the trem cavity cover off the back, If the trem is sitting up, you'll need to tighten the screws on the claw, not too much, about a 1/4 turn each, then re-tune and check the angle. If its still not right, adjust again, re-tune and re-check until the baseplate of the trem is parallel to the body.

The bridge should be level or parallel, and flush, with the body but before I would adjust anything...I would suggest changing the strings to 9's as you had indicated as the bridge will likely level out somewhat. It's possible that with the 10's on that the guitar was set up with tuning down a half-step or some other alternate tuning.

If it is still not flush, regardless of the string gauge that you choose, you can adjust the strings in the cavity by tightening them. This will pull the bridge down because you are increasing the tension on the springs. When you do that, turn each of the screws equally and a little at a time. Re-tune. And keep going through this process as required until you have the bridge parallel with the body.
