    SMY2D volume drop, position 2

    Hey all,

I recently purchased my SM Y2D. It's a brilliant guitar, except for the huge volume drop in position 2 (single coil + bridge humbucker). I've heard that a volume drop is normal for the single coil by itself (position 3), but is it normal in pos. 2? Could this be a wiring issue? Unfortunately it's so quiet I can't hardly use that setting. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's kind of meant for that purpose. Steve (Morse) uses the single in combination with the 'bucker to reduce the overall output, sort of a "play cleaner" setting, so you can without having to change anything on your amp.

That said, the position shouldn't be inaudible. Should still be louder than the single on it's own. If it's not you have a wiring issue. In that case, contact the customer service folks and they can help you sort it out.

    Hope that helps.
