Question Hidden Foam under my Axis Floyd bridge ... OEM???

I have had my Axis for over a year and since it is my backup (my Axis SS is my main) I haven't changed the strings since I purchased it over a year ago (I know, I know). But first a little back story.

I have always had trouble with the D-Tuna. No matter how much adjusting I do, I could never get it to work properly. Whenever I used it, the other strings would go out of tune and need to be adjusted, defeating the entire purpose of the D-Tuna. I realized this was due to my Floyd bridge not being fully stationary, so I did everything I could - adding a spring & cranking down the claw - but nothing worked. Even when I tightened everything to the point of making the tremolo useless, still no go with the D-Tuna.

Tonight I was changing the strings and doing a cleanup on the neck and I notice a small (5mm diameter and very thin) foam dot between the bridge and body under the A-string saddle.

Not caring what my body looks like under the saddle, I removed the dot and the Floyd became rock solid with minimal tension. I re-calibrated the D-Tuna and it works great.

So ... is this foam dot from the factory or was it something someone else added later? Thanks for the insight.

(I love my EBMM guitars BTW)

    Just a friendly bump.

I am trying to see if EB puts a small piece of thin (<1mm) foam under the Axis Floyd to protect the body. I found one under mine (see story above).

    Thanks again.

The 2 Axis models I've had, had a thin strip at the back of the bridge that went the width of the bridge. It wasn't foam though. It's hard to describe. It was like a very thin velvet. I had d-tunas on both of those and there was no issues. Not sure about the dots.
