Question difference between 1990's and 2000's musicman axis super sport?

    hi! new here.
I am going to be purchasing a MM axis ss with vintage trem.
I like those with the sunburst finish but so far the only one if found is that of floating in ebay the 1998 model and that suits my budget MUSICMAN 1998 Axis Sport Vintage Sunburst (316539905) - eBay (item 270683811839 end time Apr-22-11 21:33:12 PDT).
is there a difference between the late axis ss and the 2000's models?
    pickups, electronics, neck thickness?

MM axis ss owners please share

The model in that auction is an Axis Sport (now discontinued). The neck, pickups and electronics are all the same as the current models.

Where it differs is the body woods. That Sport has an ash body, whereas the current Super Sports (with humbuckers) have a basswood body with a maple cap. (The MM90 Super Sports still have an ash body, but with the maple cap.)

Those Sports are exceptional guitars. I've got a very similar one (same sunburst, flamed neck) but with the MM90 pickups.

I dunno about anyone. But the flame on that neck is KILLER.

Someone's gotta be bonkers not to pick that up at that price.
