On the GC MM90 with full rosewood neck, the body is actually mahogany. The combo of the rosewood and mahogany with the MM90 pickups produces sweet tone for days. The guitars have been ordered by GC in Black, White and Gold as stated in this thread. However, they have had the most success with the black so they have reordered it in small runs several times...
    Very cool guitar!

    Hi All,

Sorry for the delay of this post.. here's the update..

The guitar showed up last Wednesday and boy is it something else. Being the first guitar I've bought sight unseen, opening the box was a little like Sir Lord Whats-His-Name opening the mummy's tomb. What a beautiful instrument. The neck was a little dry, but one of the included wonder wipes had it looking mean in no time. Playability is just fantastic. My Boogie DC-5 has never sounded so good. Those MM90's really snap and pop.. just a very, very nice tone.

It turns out that the body is not ash, as GC had informed me, but mahogany. At this point there is absolutely no way I'm giving this rig back, but I'm still curious to hear the difference between the two body woods. May have to answer that question when I have another GAS attack. But in the meantime I'm happier than a pig in a puddle and probably will be for quite some time to come. Just waiting for the abalone PG from MM and I'm good to go.

Here's some pix (sorry for the poor res):

Oh, my my my. She is just a classy guitar. Of all EBMM's I think the AL just has so much mojo. Nice pickguard, I'm sure the abalone will look nice too although I prefer white pearloid. Mahogany, MM90's and rosewood neck make for an amazingly rich tone.

Thanks everyone for the words of advice and encouragement. This is an absolutely fantastic guitar and my new fave. The neck and balance are great and the tones.. oh man! My ASS and '71 LP (along with my wife) will be a little jealous for a while. I'll post some pix with the new pickguard once I have it on.

Thanks again to MMCS and Forumites for all of your help.. it's refreshing to have such a great product, CS, and enthusiastic customer fan base all in one package. Keep up the good work everyone!

Awesome guitar man, I've got one in the same exact color. As far as the difference in sound between the mm90 version with the ash body, maple neck and the mm90 mahogany body, rosewood neck...well... I have both guitars and I have recorded both of the guitars in the studio a few times and IMHO, the mahogany body, rosewood neck- has a thicker, warmer tone and is a very versatile guitar that can get warm and jazzy to wild and rockin' with a real bite. The top end of the spectrum doesn't bite like a mahogany body, maple top kind of guitar, but it sure is it's own thing and has easily turned into one of my favorite guitars.

The mm90 with the ash body, maple neck- is no doubt a brighter guitar. It doesn't quite have ability to sustain like the mahogany body/rosewood neck, but I'm sure guys who love the ash body version have found ways to really make it sing. I think it is perfect doubling duties in the studio. Most guys don't want to double two Les Pauls in you have a hook line like the one in "Here Comes The Sun" for instance. So... that's one area where I think the ash body, maple neck really shines. Anywho, that's more than my two cents for ya.
