    Neck pickup spacing on JP6

    Hi all,

I recently changed my pickups on my BFR JP6 from the previous custom-D Sonic combo to the current Liquifire-Crunch Lab combo.

I used a standard spaced Liquifire, and a F-spaced Crunch Lab.

What I have recently noticed is that the higher strings (B and high E) do not line up directly above the pole pieces of the Liquifire. I presume the guitar tech screwed the new pickups into the existing holes vacated by the previous pickups.

Should I have used a F-spaced Liquifire pickup instead?

It really doesn't matter, although if you bought it from a Dimarzio dealer within 30 days Dimarzio will take it back and switch it as long as you didn't trim the lead.

Bought it more than 30 days ago unfortunately, and it was off eBay

Wouldn't there be uneven output as a result of the strings not being evenly spaced across the pole pieces?

I've done this before. The difference is not that noticeable through an amp, but if it's enough to bother you, then replace it. Just raise the pickup height a bit and you should be fine.

Heck just redrill a new hole on the one side to pull the pup over.

What I'm saying the tone doesn't suffer either way, but aesthetically I would want it to line up
