MM JP6 Noisy Trem Springs

I just bought a brand new Music Man John Petrucci 6 that shipped from the factory to Guitar Center where I bought it, it's the non-piezo version. I love the setup, feel, and tone of the guitar, it really is outstanding, but there is one thing that is driving me a bit nuts. The tremolo springs are vibrating when I play and it's quite loud and audible through my amp. It comes through like a 'reverb-ish hum' after I strike a chord if you know what I mean. But if I'm unplugged I really can't hear it at all. It's like the humbucker pick-up is really amplifying it. It just seems the tremolo spring vibrations are louder through the pick-ups than with any other guitar I've owned and I'm wondering if I might have a problem with the tremolo setup...? But I bought it from Guitar Center and I wouldn't trust those less experienced guitar tech guys to look at anything themselves so I'm not entirely sure what to do right now. So I guess, does anyone else notice this with their guitars or am I alone here?

my Luke did the same... i just removed the cover and put in a piece of soft packing foam to dampen the springs... the foam i used was from a pick up box

Most trem-equipped guitars will do this, I like to cut a little piece of cloth, and fold it over on itself, then slot it under the springs, it keeps them quiet, but doesn't affect the trem response in any way! Other people have other ideas, some like to cut up straws and slide them inside the springs!

Anything will do as long as it dampens the springs, but doesn't inhibit them from vibrating!

I use foam in mine underneath the springs. Works like a charm.

Thanks for the replies! I will try the foam. Funny, I've owned several different guitars with tremelo systems in the going on 13 years I've been playing guitar, and while at times I could hear some light spring vibrations, it was never as loud as it is with the MMJP I just bought, and I never had to pack foam under the springs. But seems reasonable enough of a fix...
