Why am I always complaining that GC has no EBMMs?

Because actually - they do! Stopped in at my local store to a big surprise - a bunch of EBMMs hanging on the wall - including a couple AL HHs (would still have liked to see a single coil AL - maybe someday!). I will say that I examined many of them up close. I paid special close attention to the BFR JP. Oh - it's all wrong for me - color wise and feel and the whole deal - but I just wanted to check out the build quality and I figured - look at something that I'm NOT interested in buying!

So I did - it was pretty amazing. Conveniently they were all hanging on a wall displayed with mostly them and the PRSi. The comparison is a valid one, IMO - the build quality on both brands was spectacular - very impressive indeed. It reassured me that I could order a new EBMM sight unseen and not be worried - at all - about the quality of the instrument I would be getting.

The only issue I found was the guitars were fairly neglected - a big no-no in a Minnesota winter. It has been very very dry and they all bore the signs of it. Dry fingerboards & lots of fret sprout. The necks all needed adjustment - they had way too much bow in them - would have expected the opposite in this weather. Maybe they were adjusted to one of the guitar guys liking because they were all about the same bow angle. The HH AL in ElDorado Gold was the worst for fret sprout - it was actually unplayable. Too bad - that's an easy fix - need more humidity in the whole store! But I digress.

In any event - the EBMMs were really stunning and I was quite impressed with how well built they ALL were. Thought you guys might like to see some pics, also.

Yeah - the paint and the clearcoat on these things was amazing! They all look a ton better in person, too. I was hoping I wouldn't like the ElDorado gold. I was wrong. Serious gas. And I figure I could really use another Albert!

I visited 6 GC while in the states, only to drool lookin at the MM guitars.

Left with my Silho, but I wished I had more money, since the Petruccis were particularly sexy...

The only standard models my local GC is missing is the morse, luke and silo. The have JPs for days BFR and regular, 3 reflexes one of them BFR, a couple of ASS, 4 albert lee s. Maybe I can talk them in to acquiring the others and perhaps a sillo bass... or maybe a baritone pet.... hmmmmm...... They'd do that just so I can try them right? rrrriiiight.......

It's hit or miss at my local GC. When they have them, it's always a good day. They're the first thing that I look for. I've only seen them carry the Axis, original JP, and the Luke. If they kept more in stock I know I'd own more Balls (as I don't like to buy without trying first). I've asked the manager why they don't carry more and he told me that I'd have to order them.
Luckily I have another store nearby that stocks a good variety of Balls. I'm purposefully avoiding that place since I know they have some JPXI's in stock. Too much temptation and I'm weak.
