    Question If you could only own one . . . . .

Uncle Sam has been kind this year and has left me enough to probably afford a used EBMM. I've been window shopping, and have found a Reflex for a decent price. Before I buy, I wanted to poll the group and see if the Reflex can be a "one and you're done" type of guitar. Being more of a hobbyist, I can't spend this much on a guitar unless I know for sure that I'm going to keep it long term.

I've played one at GC and at Summer NAMM last year, and I really like it. I thought the slightly larger body would be a turn-off, but it works really well. The chambering cuts down on the weight and makes it really light.

I'm open to other opinions and options, but keep in mind:
    - I don't like single coils
    - I don't like Floyds
    - Forearm contours are a must
Currently modding the heck out of a SBMM SILO30

Reflex is basically the way to go. Vintage trem is amazingly simple, and therefore very very stable. I have a hard tail and its extremely stable.

It's got the great axis pups, and has 10 different voices, compared to the axis' 3, or ASS's 5. It'll keep you and your journey occupied for a while IMO.

Tony! Hey man, you sound like me with your, "one and done" guitar thingy.
I feel the same way, especially since I'm purely a hobbyist.

Was looking into pickup up a used Sterling Silo when I saw ur avatar says," modding a silo30".
If I may ask without hi-jacking your thread, what exactly are you doing to the Silo?

    Thanks,
    Jon

It seems like you have already made a decision for yourself, but I would also look into a Y2D. It is an amazing guitar all the way around and has a single coil in there for additional tones. The humbuckers are awesome and you can pull off all kinds of music with this one. It does not have the contours, but it is still very comfortable.

Sounds like your mind is already made up. And you made the right choice. I don't know how much you're spending, but look real hard for a 25th. Figured maple top just kicks a$$.

of course in the shape of your favorite EBMM. with a redwood neck of course.

So, Its REALLY close between JP and LUke but..... I'd go JP specs with gamechanger guts...redwood neck.

I'm actually thinking it could actually happen in the near future.

I am about to go one and done with my Reflex, I need a bass and am debating about recycling my Silo to get one. The Reflex covers so much territory on it's own I rarely play the Silo any longer. Go for it.

It's a tough choice but the Reflex seems like everything you would want. Contour, very comfortable body, wonderful neck and versatile.

It depends on what you want. Do you value versatility? Or is there another guitar that just nails a particular tone you love and that's more important to you? I love the versatility of the 25th I have (reflex), but it's not the first guitar I grab. Since I'm not currently a gigging musician, I might not value versatility most if I could only have one guitar. Having said that, it sounds as though you really like the reflex. They are great guitars.

Tony, The Reflex is a beast of a guitar. I have one in the shop and I love it. I know what you are thinking. Why don't I own one? My answer.... one can only have so many lol. Anyway. I think for you it sounds like a winner. The new LIII might be too. I love my Luke its my one and done guitar (since you don't like single coils the new HH might be cool). The Y2D is pretty darn close too. I have a floyd model. I want a non floyd to see the difference. However it also has a single coil and not really a contour, but very comfortable body. But like I tell my customers, if it feels right.....it feels right. simple as that.

    Jon,

I'm putting in a SD P-Rails in the bridge position, and turning it into a 1 pickup monster. I'll have a humbucker, P-90, and single coil in one spot.

Done - email sent your way. I'm in the used market. I don't think there's a way I could buy new right now.

Well I would say gamechanger but thats out of the used market, let Pete hook you up cause a 25th would be that one.

Me if I had to have one would be up chit creek
