    JPXI - 'vintage' tones (Pickups)

Okay, I have a JPXI and this has to be without question 'my' best ever guitar and I've never been happier with a guitar in the way it feels and plays - its as though it is made to measure for me. The balance of the guitar and the neck is sublime.

I know this will sound like I'm a greedy guy but my circumstances have changed and I'm planning on getting two more JPXIs. One completely stock as a back up and the other for playing more vintage blues clean through to crunch tones. My question is what pickups would you suggest I look into for a more 'vintage' tone?

I'd check out the Rio Grande Texas/BBQ set, that would be a great combo with the JPX1.

Assuming the pups are direct-mounted (like the Axis), then the 36ths are the best option with no mods. Others can confirm whether the heights are the same, I don't have any direct experience with the JP set.

The 36ths are some of the best pups DiMarzio is making, IMHO.

Can anyone confirm if I can put in some 36ths without any mods and the heights are the same?

Best bet is to call DiMarzio. They have great service, and real people that can answer questions actually answer the phone.

If the JP bridge pup is indeed a bit taller, all you would have to do is add some spacers under the pickup ears.
