    JP6 Headstock

    Hi!

Im almost done with the drawing JP6 neck dimensions on mahonagy block. But there's one problem. I don't know how much is headstock moved backwards from neck (without fretboard) surface. I mean these colorfull dimensions
(thickest lines only) . Red one is that's what i need to finish drawing and to look around for band saw.

    http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/5807/dimentions2.jpg <<
Could someone measure these for me? Red one is most important, it's distance from surface of headstock to surface of neck (not fretboard! , its sanded down here so it's bad point to take measure from)

I dont need to make ideal copy of neck but it have to work, without any buzzing's etc.
Red one , and is there any angle that headstock to neck has?
    i mean like gibsons

there is no tilt. The Stallion proto type has a tilt but if that will actually stay and make it to the production model is still a ways out

    Thank you very much.
Other thing are these dimensions. Then I'll try to find someone with band saw or just i will work with hand router or fret saw...
If no band saw found there will be problem to do this fine... or it will take huge amount of time.

I don't think you will have much luck coming to a manufacturer's forum and asking for precise measurements so you can copy their products.

Personal projects are ok and he's not making a perfect copy. Sure, it wasn't more than a month ago we had that young English kid here and we all raved about his home build! Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and if BP has a problem with it, we'll all know about it. Besides, it's info that he can get on almost any other forum and any guitar with a non-angled headstock and locking tuners won't be much different. Better he gets it from us, eh?

    Macck, it'll be about 5mm.

That won't be copy. Start with another wood, fixed bridge , shape BASED ON JP6 guitar. But i love MM headstock shape, and as Petrucci said "I have average hand so I think that anyone can like the neck" (or something like this) and i like fast necks (yes i had wizard neck) . Focus also on fact that i never had this axe in my hand so i can't say what the profile is like.
It's not for sale or something. Its for my own use same as amp's that i want to build based for example on Mesa Mark IV. Im not the robot who can copy details 1:1 . Love the body shape , and headstock shape :-)

5 mm looks not too much. If that is form surface of the neck wood (not fretboard) i guess that's enough. If anyone can give me another measurements from this pic that would be super! It comes about playability of the neck , no buzzings , everything fits etc.'

    Thanks ,
    Maciek
