What to expect with mm90 pickups?

I'm looking at an axis ss with mm90 pickups and was wondering what sort of tones and textures to expect. What are these pickups like in mid gain and high gain settings? Is there any style of music that they are more likely to be used for or are they fairly versatile.

If you're familiar with P90s, these are in the same vein, with less output. Like a thick single coil, more meaty while still retaining the same chime.

Clean, they sound great. With some gain, they get good and greasy. Good for just about everything except gobs of gain, where they get noisy, even with the Silent Circuit.

Sound better than Axis humbuckers to me.... I play classic rock, blues rock, lots of clean stuff and they just shine

Best clean tones of any of my Balls. Anything past moderate gain, they seem to "thin out". Love them for what I use them for. CLEAN!!!!!!!

When I have to play everything or don't know what I'll be playing, I bring the Axis SS with MM90's in it.

brilliant clean sound, yet still a great overdriven sound or even distorted. Great pups on a great guitar. I love them.

I might be in the minority here, but I didn't bond with MM90s in the same way as some of the guys did.

Don't get me wrong, they sound great, and in the right hands could/would have blown me away with clarity and subtlety. In my hands I felt I just couldn't quite achieve the extremes I wanted to hear (maximum aggression or ultra simple cleans).

That said, would I want an EBMM axe with MM90s in the armoury? Oh definitely.

Man, I didn't get that at all. I loved them with some juicy gain. Just so growly and mean sounding.

I was really surprised how versatile is my ASS MM90. You can go from ethereal clean to metal without problem.
