    the all powerfull truss rod

i got my new axis saturday and was a little disapointed with the set up. the action was so high it was painfull but with the flushmount floyd i was figuring id have to take it in and get the neck shimmed . i found this hard to believe with the reputation of these guitars and the quality that ernie ball is known for so i started searching on this forum and found some threads on truss rod adjustment. i cant believe what a difference a turn and a half can make . it is sooooo much easier to play now. i might need another eighth of a turn to hit perfection but im going to let it settle for 24 hours to make sure but i just wanted to say THANK YOU for the tips. you guys rock

BB, pardon me for busting your chops here, but why the new thread for this, when you could have just updated your thread on page 2?

...well, I wasn't trying to be a pr*ck. I CAN be, if you want me too. Problem is, if I was, then my post would only have one word in it, as the rest of them would be edited out. Call me Sailor D.

norm: I told you I'd do it...I am a man of my word.

KEI...whoever you are: Which one of you are confused?

Axis Sport: The heat done fried my brain a LONG time ago.

bluebullet: ...unless you're a female, I don't want you worrying about me adjusting my truss rod. I see by your post that you are a bit of a smart a** though, so you'll fit in with this group just fine.

Guess I should be a tad easier on the noob's, until they realize that my smart a** remarks come with the territory?

Good to have ya on board, BB...if you can tolerate us, you'll learn a ton here. Stick around, huh?

Nah, Brent...no tension. What, you wanna start somethin'?

Heh...when I posted that original reply, I was beat all to hell, and ready to pass out. Thinking that the fatigue got the best of me...wasn't meant to be mean, just standard "busting of chops" a la Darrell, that's all. My bad that it got looked at in a different light.

Get off my a**, Michigan boy...ain't you got some snow to shovel? (My mother actually spent Thanksgiving there in Detroit and Jackson, due to her aunt's health condition. She said that she didn't miss the snow one bit...ah, the beauty of Phoenix. A nice and sunny 44 at time of posting, with an expected high of 61. Jealous yet? )

    dwf,

My sis-in-law lives in East Mesa, and I've been down there visiting in July when the temp routinely hit 120 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT!

You can't shovel that problem away!

They always say "but it's a dry heat".. yes it is... akin to sticking your head into an oven. Who needs that?

Besides, it gets old plucking those scorpions outta the pool filter..

Ah, you whiner...it only hits 119. (actually, hottest temp this summer was 112...icky, yes. Tolerable? For the most part. Pleasing? No...but you do what you gotta do...)

I've been here all of my life, and I've been to Memphis, Tennessee...95 degrees with 85-90 percent humidity. A 20, maybe 30 foot walk from the hotel exit to the car, and your back feels like you're wearing a wet washcloth...nah, they can keep that. This is why we make sure our air conditioners work in May, and become vampires for 4 months out of the year.

Steve, you gotta admit, it's awesome placement: want pines and trees and crap like that? Drive an hour or so to Prescott, or a little bit more to Flagstaff. Want desert, or to goof around with norm? Go below about an hour to or near Tucson. And when you get tired of it all, just go right back home to the big city.

I wouldn't ask for a better spot to be...come out sometime when it's not oven like, and you'll see that the rest of the year is gorgeous.
