    lukather neck pickup?

I am the new owner of ebmm luke II with piezo. I had no real clue as to who Steve Lukather was so I bought 25th anniversary TOTO dvd. I was wondering if anybody knows what pickup he is using in the neck position on this dvd.

It's a Fernandes sustainer, you can hear it during the solo "While My Guitar Weeps" and the end of the piano guitar jam, it's the high pitch screaming sound, it sounds very nice and haunting.

If I didnt like my neck pickup so much I would get a sustainer pickup. Any one know if you can put the sustainer in the middle position.

It might work, but not as effective as in neck position, where it is 'easier' for the sustainer's magnetic field to move the strings.
(Hope you guys understand what I'm talking about, still need to tweak my english skills in some details )

From what Luke said, it sounds great, but he still loves his EMGs.

    Banger,

Your post was very clear. Even if it were not, I'm sure that your English is better than our German.

    Thanks for that, Steve

To get back on topic: I want that single coil sustainer for my Luke, but it seems as if only the double coil version is available in europe.
Before I start an overseas transaction, I'd like to discover some facts, perhaps anyone here can help me with this:

    - Does the sustainer fit in the original routings or does the base plate have to be modified?
    - Does the cirquit board fit into the control cavity or will some additional routing have to be done? (I think I won't get around routing anyway, as I will need some extra space for the additional battery...)

The Sustainer driver fits into the existing neck pup slot, but the back of the body
must be routed to accomodate the sustainer circuit, as well as for the switches.

Best thing would be to have 2 guitars, one with, & one without. I have one stock,
one with Sustainer & one with piezo. Too many guitars but I love 'em.
