Because this auction was for charity?.
I purposefully placed the first bid to inflate the price of the guitar. Not picking on you ernie (or any one else for that matter) but this is not the place to preach your ebay strategies. I base that on having seen threads closed here for that reason.

    Congratulations to the two winners:
In second place is GWDavis. Dude, Congrats on having one of the very few "Special, one or two of a kind" Ernie Ball Music Man Guitars. That is something really special. As your did come in second your consolation prize is a big Thank You! from myself, your peers and The Ernie Ball Company (I hope I am not out of line by speaking for others on this public forum) for donating to this charity.

In first place is the Casey Lee Ball Foundation. Not matter how right or wrong, good or evil this whole deal went down, They win.

Hm, the outch at the beginning and probably also the rest of my post did stir the water a bit, but I'm happy with the situation as is. I wasn't planning on buying the CLB auction Axis (but it would have been cool if I had won it). With the Y2d on the way as well as our first kid (will be born in two weeks), I don't really need an extra guitar at the moment. Although the money that was spared because of Glenn winning the auction might turn into another EBMM in the (near) future. Yeah, I have GAS too, but I'm trying to control it, which isn't always as easy as I would want it to be...

So, I don't have a problem with being outbid by 5 bucks and only a few minutes before the auction ended, although I might have come across that way. Remember, I live in Belgium, so in the end the guitar would have cost me way more (because of our 21% import tax and import rights, money that all goes right to the Belgium state and that will never be used for charity). Glenn's sure that all the money he pays for it, will go to the CLB foundation and that is what counts. As NorM stated, it's a win-win situation.

'Nuff said. The only thing worth whining about, is that it could have raised more money

    Cheers, Tom.
