    Set Up Help Please

Well I am new to the forum and am glad I finally joined . I recently received a New Envy Green 6er Loaded and it is the first out of the 6 that I currently own that the action and playability of the guitar was out of whack. I have owned up the 12 of these and currently am down to 6 but I am always buying them. My issue is I have not ever set up one of these before and have used the FAQ to find how to set it up but does not seem to be working out and is getting me frustrated. The issue is the Low E and D buzz no matter where play. So bad that when I am recording it is very noticable. I tried to raise the action on the Trem bar with no success unless I wanted it jacked all the way up. I worry about messing with the Truss Rod as I am worried about messing it up. NOw I cannot take it a dealer. Why you ask? I am currently working in Iraq. So I cannot go downtown and get it set up. I bought the guitar new and like I said this is the first time i have had this issue. So if any of you are willing to help me I would greatly Appreciate it. The neck appears very straight and do not think it is warped as it is only a month or so old.

Check whether there is a hump or bow in the neck. Fret the first and, 22nd fret, on the low E. There should be a gap at the 12th fret (between string and fret)...if there isn't you have a hump, or some call it back bow. Now the size of gap varies, but I like mine a small as possible...anyway let us know we can go from there...

There is a gap, I used an Ernie Ball "T" pick I guess the "T" stands for thin. the Gap is there and does not seem uneven across the E String. I used a CAPO on the first Fret. Yes you sent me over, Thanks

OK what's your action height now, without fretting or the capo, what's the height from the 12th fret to the bottom of the low E? It may be that depending on your action height, that gap isn't quite enough...

That's pretty good action, I would turn the truss rod adjustment screw counter clockwise to lower the fretboard. Try a 1/4 turn at a time, play it then wait a bit...then try again...I can only imagine the weather in Iraq (not to mention the everything else) is wreaking havoc on that poor Pet! Don't fret about the truss rod, a 1/4 turn at a time, and you'll nurse that baby back to health. Let us know!

OK I will let you know. The weather here is not bad on the guitar as the Guitar stays in the case except if I am playing it and I stay in a building with a controlled climate. I take care of my baby's

    Raz,
Maybe I'm missing something, but doesn't 1/8 in sound really high? That's twice the factory setup of 2/32. I would surely think he shouldn't be getting buzzing there - in fact, it should be fairly uncomfortable to play. I know I'm still new to all this, but doesn't it sound like something else is going on?

Tkharris, Do you have any pictures of your lava pearl JP you could post. I'm interested in a JP in that color but I've never seen any good shots of it. Thanks

So you're saying you have a noticable gap now when you fret the first and last fret?
