yep 100 % on that one. I had problem with my ears when I was buying mine or maybe I was stupid enough to think that Marshall = great

I'm home too. It would have been nice to go, but I just have other financial priorities right now. Not to mention, I really want to add another Pet to my arsenal. Anyway, I'm not really feeling bad about missing it. I would have loved to meet and jam with my fellow forumites. I would have liked to do the factory tour and take of on my own journey to see the Big Sur. But, other then that I'm pretty content about my decision to stay home and save the cash. I'll just wait for the Dubaldo Music open house...fire up that van with the beer tap, Pete. All jokes aside, I am having a great night, and wish everyone else on, as well.

Hey, maybe we could pass the time by posting pics of our equipment next to our favorite piece of fruit.

I quite like my AVT150. It's not the best amp on the planet but I got a big discount on it (RRp of £520, I paid £340). It really doesn't like too much gain though. I rarely go above 6 on either OD channel. OD2 is way to muddy but OD1 does a half decent EVH impression with careful setup on the EQ knobs. As for the effects...erm...I use delay on 3/10 with 5 on the timing and that's about it. I can't praise it's clean channel enough for the price though. The acoustic sim channel is OK but it does make your guitar sound like its fret buzzing when its not

My biggets beef with the AVT is that it sounds absolutely MINCE with any effects. I had a Boss GT6 which sounded terrific through headphones, but garbage through the AVT no matter how I hooked the two up. Really tinny, sterile and thin. I sold the GT6 and kept the Marshall.....for now. Was looking at the JSX combo and Mesa Boogie sometyhing or other 45. However, a little voice in the head says wait, save, and get teh CAE 3+SE and VHT 2150 plus speakers for them to blow up... Could take a few years to get that much money available, but I think it'll be worth it. That or a Soldano.

yep that's I am talking about. AVT has a really nice clean channel and the effects are also quite nice, but the OD1 and the OD2 channels are just terrible IMO, they sound thin and almost like a buzzing of a bee or a hornet. You can forget about palm mutting with it... I was thinking about Line6 Flextone III or some Rivera combos, I would like Mesa Boogie but they are too expensive for me...

    I can relate to that!
Though I don't have the guitar yet, I bought a Marshall Amp at a "midnight madness sale" over a year ago. I didn't even try it out.
It's OK but I wish I didn't buy it since I'm coming across all these better amps that I didn't know about!
After I get the guitar, I will be upgrading!!

My vox is a great amp for the money. 60W with the modeling (not the silver ones). The new VTX has a great speaker.

Ali......remember you are in the UK, you will have to pawn the Crown Jewells to afford that rig you want.

If i could I would get my peavy 5150 back.

I had a Mesa Boogie stack for years in the 1980's and 1990's that was a monster. I always has the best, loudest, clearest rig. Most of the time we had to mic other guys into the PA so they could even hear themselves. I loved that amp. So just like you - I bought another Mesa without even hearing it a few years ago and regret it. The clean channel is amazing - If I played Jazz . . . But I play Prog metal and hard rock. I stopped at my local Guitar store and played an AVT50 combo 1x12, and was fairly impressed with the tone, but I didn't crank it. The guy there said the AVT 275 was amazing and he'd call me when they got one. Maybe I'll wait and just get a good overdrive stomp box for the Mesa.

When I saw RUSH - Alex's Hughes and Kettner rig was a monster - tone out the . . . all night long, but it's $3000 for a half stack.

Has anyone tried the new Cornford Carrera yet? The reviews sound very promising and it doesn't cost the earth. Low wattage amp, but mine gets mainly home use nowadays anyway. The tone appears to be to die for if you believe the reviews.
