Headline says it all. What should I look out for? Any special sound cards you guys prefer? What about RAM? Anything you guys know would help.
Thanks,

yes Pro Tools is worth checking outas for what program to use.. some prefer the daughter, i prefer the mother.. protools
basically they all do the same thing, just in slightly different ways.. the 7.4 release of protools does give ya elastic audio and that is one h*ck of an improvement.. requantitize everything, not just the midi!!
whatever you do: stay AWAY from vista...
ill do a gwb and repeat that so you get the message: stay AWAY from vista!!!!
if you want to do audio on microsoft products go with xp. vista is a hog.. slow hog too.. needs plenty of ram on its own, its slower than xp and there still isnt good support for drivers.
my recommendation: latest version of imac. they have very good performance compared to price. get it filled to the brim with ram.. if im not wrong you should be able to put 3gigs in it..
