ive got a mesa boogie mark iv and today someone offered to trade for an engl powerball how do these amps stack up to eachother? would you make the trade? i play mainly heavier music but need to have versatility for when that gets boring (quite often)

agreed. but having said that, my friend just traded his triple recto for a powerball. the mark IV is a completly different ball game though, they are one of the most versitile amps on the market

I've owned both of these amps for a while. The Powerball is a great amp....but I prefer the MKIV.

I dont think you can go wrong with either. Petrucci plays Mesa, and Steve Morse plays ENGL. Thats all I have to say about that.
