I've always liked the look of covered pickups. We got Albert Lee HH, Luke III, Valentine… but no JP. Recently I get a little bored with the sound of CL/LF set on my JP7BFR and I decided to change them with a chrome covered set of Bare Knuckle Nailbombs.
I made some research about dimensions and got inconsistent messages - some people needed to route the cavities, some didn't. It turned out that I had to rout a little (less than 1mm) in corners, so th pickup fit into cavity. After putting the strings on I noticed that the neck pickup is too high, so I had to route a little under mounting ears. It was a bit painful, but everything went well:
