Hey Everyone,

I was wondering if there was an appreciable weight difference between these two. The generic weights are listed as 9 lbs for each, but is this accurate?

Thanks!

Average weight is probably more accurate. I've owned a 9.8 lb. Sterling and a 8.2 lb. Sterling 4 string. There is a Sterling 5 on the BassCentral site that weighs over 10. It seems like it is a crapshoot but you are probably more likely to get a lightweight Sterling than a lightweight Stingray.

I have had 3 Sterling 5s over the years:
1 5 HS = 4.5 kg, 1 5 HH = 4.4 kg and (still have) a 5 H = 4.3 kg

Agree on what Jakka has said. All the StingRay 5s I have owned were between 4.6 and 4.9 kg.

Out of the five sterling 5's I have owned, 9-9.7 lbs. SR 5's 8.5- 11 lbs.
