The thing about pickups is that each one will sound different depending on all the other factors of any given guitar.
Woods, build, the rest of the circuit, position of the moon, strings, etc... these all effect the final voicing. So the only way to find out is to try it...

It's just a few screws, a few wires, a set of new strings, and an hour or so of your time. (of course, this assumes you're comfortable with your soldering skills...). Totally reversible.
And check the pup color code charts first! :)

Used by guitar builders "who know" - james Dean Bradfield had some fitted and he really sang their praises - 'course I do get mates rates when I buy them for myself. :)
I have 2 Shed "Spud Special" Humbuckers awaiting installation in a project guitar of mine :cool:
