You might be able to locate one. Drop CS an email see if they can help you.'

Or you might get lucky with the used section, Reverb or EvilBay.

Colors the same, better tops, brown backs vs black backs.

They're out there.

You can find them. I see them on eBay from time to time. They had better tops... usually great quilts. And they were offered in the original EVH colors:

  • Translucent black
  • Translucent blue
  • Translucent gold
  • Translucent green
  • Translucent pink
  • Translucent purple
  • Translucent red
  • Translucent sunburst
  • Natural
  • Opaque gloss black
  • Vintage goldtop

All guitars had:
  • a brown back (like the original prototype EVH)
  • cream binding (like the EVH and all stock Axis)
  • maple neck and fretboard
  • one volume knob, marked VOLUME (not TONE like the EVH's had)
  • the pickup switch is in the Axis location (not the EVH location)
  • and it had a new Music Man Floyd Rose with the pop-in bar (not the original Gotoh as on the EVH)
  • the trans ones all had matching headstocks, the Natural, Opaque Black, and Vintage Goldtop had natural headstocks
  • some of the Tributes have faded, as the original EVH dyes were prone to

Here's a photo of the EBMM advertisement:

And here's my collection (actually, I have two purples, but this only shows the first one):

FWIW, there's a wonderful blue one on Reverb right now, as well as a gold top which has been listed for awhile now.

I recently picked up a trans gold w/ a monster quilt about a month ago. From what I can tell, a couple seem to pop up every month on Reverb/Ebay.
