Question MM Newbie: truss rod wheel is hardly moving

Hi everybody!
I bought a used Bongo 6 (built2009)
Its my first MM so i have no experience with the trussrod wheel.
I tried to move it a litte, just to get shure it works.
I need a lot of strength to move it just 2 mm.
I used a "allen key" for this.
With all my other basses (Warwick, fender) i needed less strength (but with the specific tools)

Is it possible, that the wheel is stuck?
any Ideas?
P.S I read the thread with the vaseline......no i won´t do that!

Hi Gerald,
first turn the wheel counter clockwise to loose it. (See if it runs freely).
You can loosen the strings to take away some pressure (not necessary).
To put vaseline to the threads you have to remove the neck and the wheel, but its also not necessary if the wheel runs free.
Don't break the allen key, it may scratch your paint or pickguard.
Take time and tighten it only a quarter turn a day.

What I did that really helped was to loosen the nut until it was slack, and then I put some graphite /wax from stew mac between the plastic washer and the neck, and between the washer and the nut. Really freed up the nut.

thanks for your help and the answers.
I didn´t want to do some experiments with a (for me) "new" instrument - so i brought the Bongo to a luthier.
He confirmed, that the trussrod is ok and that its not unusual, that a 6 -string with one trussrod needs more strength to move.
So everything is fine and i enjoy the cool MM
