Having always used nickel bass strings (EB Yellow packet) when the coated Slinkys were introduced I was hooked on them from the first set I tried and wouldn’t consider using anything else.
I like the crisp sound of new newish strings (definitely not a flatwound user). Stainless steel strings I always found to be a bit too bright and noisy. I was given a set of coated stainless steel bass strings to try (brand will remain nameless) and now that’s all I use. The coating on a stainless steel string just takes the edge off it a little bit making it for me perfect. The notes ring out crisp and clear with minimal finger noise and no rattling.
So the question is are there any plans to introduce coated steels any time in the future ?
