I've been stringing-up with Extra Slinky (8-38) strings for over 30 years and now I'm finding it really hard to get them from local music shops. Has there been a market shift to higher gauges leaving me behind? I used to use Picato 007s up top but they don't "exist" anymore either. One day I'll order a set of Dunlop Reverend Willy's (7-38) to relive my teens.

Most likely there's just not a lot of demand for them in your area. I had the same trouble finding 7-string EB sets around here when I got my JP70 a few months ago.

I played Extras for years, but I just can't get enough chug out of the low end of them to satisfy me anymore. I don't know how Billy G gets his tone with 7s. Clearly he's far more talented than I am. :)
