Ernie Ball Music Man is excited to announce that the new 2018 Cutlass RS and Stingray RS guitars are officially available! The instruments are an update to the original Ernie Ball Music Man Modern Classics that were designed by Leo Fender in 1975. Both guitars now come standard with figured roasted maple necks*with ebony, rosewood or maple fingerboard. The flawless craftsmanship throughout these instruments create the perfect culmination of old-world aesthetics and styling with modern design and playability. The 2018 Cutlass RS
Along with the new roasted figured maple neck, the 2018 Cutlass RS features all original specifications including vintage spec electronics, a super smooth modern tremolo system, and lightweight alder body. The guitar comes with an oversized 4 over 2 headstock with straight string pulls providing superior tuning stability. 2018 also marks the introduction of Firemist Silver, a new finish option for the Cutlass pictured below. The 2018 Cutlass RS*HSS
Just like the Cutlass SSS, the 2018 Cutlass HSS features the new roasted figured maple neck with rosewood or maple fingerboard. The Cutlass RS HSS model also retains all of the familiar elements of the original Cutlass including an alder body, super smooth modern tremolo and oversized 4 over 2 headstock. The bridge pickup in the HSS is a custom wound Ernie Ball Music Man ceramic humbucker with a vintage sound that compliments the single coils yet has plenty of crunchy rhythms and biting lead tones. The 2018 Stingray RS
The 2018 Stingray RS like the 2018 Cutlass models, features a brand new roasted figured maple neck with ebony, rosewood or maple fingerboard. The StingRay RS retains all original specifications including vintage spec humbucking pickups, a super smooth modern tremolo system, and offset lightweight African mahogany body. The sound is big and bold when needed but smooth as glass if desired thanks to the perfectly voiced custom pickups. The Stingray offers a 3-way switch accesses versatile coil combinations while the oversized 4 over 2 headstock with straight string pull provides superior tuning stability. Also new for 2018 are three new finish options - Vintage Turquoise, Firemist Silver, and Stealth Black with ebony fretboard and matte black finished maple neck. Sorry... I'm probably going to be in the minority here but I prefer the look of my Ivory Cutlass with the plain Maple neck to these new roasted neck models.

I LOVE the roasted models... but the Stealth being all black seems like a waste.
Any chance of the Stealth finish + hardware with the raw roasted necks? I'd buy a Cutlass HSS in a heartbeat in that combo! Or even with the ebony board and roasted maple neck.

(and yep, people on the Internet are never happy. I love these guitars, but they're never in the combinations I love; no cool colors for the AL HH, no piezo option on the AL HH, no roasted neck on the Stealth Cutlass/Stingrays... so close, yet so far for some of us )

Agreed, the ivory would look amazing with the roasted maple board.

Really wish they would have added the option of changing the Humbucker cover to chrome or nickel instead of the white. That is really my only hangup and making me hesitate on purchasing one.
